So here it is, Michaela and I married on Saturday April 19th, 2008. A major day for us as well for another family member Uncle Bennett. UB turned a whopping 60 years old that day as well. The wedding was not planned for more than about 4 days, we decided to get it rolling the Tuesday of the same week. Now for us American’s out there, pulling off a fast, clean, and proper Czech wedding in Prague means a ton of legal paperwork/translations/US Embassy/Czech Foreign Minister/Czech Foreign Police(biggest pain in ass place on Earth) and a lot of luck. Let me start by thanking a fine American named Mario Lomquita, the director of the visa department at the US Embassy in Prague. He is the absolute reason for why and how things worked out so nicely and quicly for Michaela and me. I would also like to thank the chef who prepared my first meal as a married man, it was an excellent pork nuckle, and I can’t wait for the next one. And of course a MAJOR thanks to Jirka who is Michaela’s grandma’s boyfriend. He ran the government building where you get married in Prague 1 for years, and somehow he squeezed us in last minute. The day sure would not have happened as I am sure Michaela would not have gone through had her mom not been there and big thanks to Standa for coming along for the ride. He seemed conent with me even though I never asked for his take on the getting married to his daughter idea.
Of course, the biggest thanks to my super model wife Michaela, not only did she look so perfect, but she has been unbelievable through our first year in dealing with all wild things that have come up.
